As reported in The Star
FIFTEEN inner roads in Air Itam, Penang, are being resurfaced at a total cost of RM508,000.
The affected roads are in Taman Chor Sin Kheng, Happy Valley and Jalan Balik Pulau.
Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said that funds for the 20,900sq m area were allocated through the Public Works Department and the project was expected to be completed by the end of this month.
“This has been an ongoing project for the past few months.
“There were also resurfacing works being carried out on a 2km
stretch of the Jalan Air Itam main road from Wisma Anak Yatim Lelaki
until the roundabout where the roads branch out towards Air Itam market
and Penang Hill,” Wong said.
He was inspecting the resurfacing works in Jalan Chor Sing Kheng on Thursday.
Resurfacing, said Wong, was carried out every five years and residents had complained of recurring potholes and uneven resurfacing of several roads.
He added that Taman Chor Sing Kheng, which had 1,000 houses and a population of 5,000, was allocated the highest sum for the resurfacing work at RM238,000.
